Description: Explore ways to effectively instill global competency in the world language classroom, and connect diverse, international issues to individual stories and students' lives. Join us to develop authentic communication tasks informed by current research and to build active participants and leaders in the global world.
For over 15 years the Monterey Bay World Language Project (MBWLP), one of the sites of the California World Language Project affiliated with the California Subject Matter Project, has been offering seminars to promote best language teaching practices in Monterey, San Benito & Santa Cruz counties. The MBWLP Team is composed of experienced language teachers because we believe that “Teachers Teaching Teachers” is the most effective way to encourage the use of proficiency-oriented, standards-based strategies to improve student performance. "Make Shift Happen!: Incorporating Global Competency in World Language Classrooms"
Description: Explore ways to effectively instill global competency in the world language classroom, and connect diverse, international issues to individual stories and students' lives. A Technology Seminar for World Language Teachers
Saturdays from 9:00am-4:00pm: January 12 and 19, 2019
Description: The use of technology is a 21st Century Skill embedded in all the Common Core and World Language Content Standards. Your students can become more proficient in the target language by using computer-based and web tools. In this 2-day workshop, you will be able to create engaging lessons for appropriate learning stages, maximizing your teacher effectiveness.

The CA EL Roadmap calls for intellectually rich learning experiences that emphasize engagement, interaction, discourse, inquiry, and critical thinking. This guidance, along with the rigor of the CA ELD Standards and ELPAC, compel us to examine how we develop and deepen our students’ literacy.
This two-day workshop will guide teachers in:
