Scheduling an Appointment

Getting Started

Enrolled students interested in counseling must complete a brief intake appointment at the PGCC. Intake appointments are 15-20 minutes and can be completed during our walk-in hours:

  • Monday: 9 AM - 12 PM; 1 - 4 PM (last appointment must start by 11:30am and 3:30pm)
  • Tuesday: 9 AM - 12 PM; 1 - 4 PM (last appointment must start by 11:30am and 3:30pm)
  • Wednesday: 1 - 4 PM (last appointment must start by 3:30pm)
  • Thursday: 9 AM - 12 PM; 1 - 4 PM (last appointment must start by 11:30am and 3:30pm)

About the Intake Process

Students are seen on a first come, first served basis.

Walk-in hours are for students new to the counseling center. If you've been to the center before, please call to determine if you should complete another intake appointment.

During the intake, students will meet with a counselor to discuss the student's reason for coming to counseling. Both the student and counselor will explore a plan to address the student's needs. Plans will be unique for each student - the counselor may recommend group counseling, individual counseling, or both. In some cases, students may benefit from a referral to a mental health professional or service outside of CSUMB.

Scheduling an Ongoing Appointment

Enrolled students who have already completed an intake appointment and have been seen by a PGCC counselor can set up an appointment by calling our office, (831) 582-3969, or walking in to schedule an appointment. We do not schedule by email.

If a student is in crisis, they will be seen as soon as possible.

A personal commitment to counseling is crucial for success and we encourage students to keep all scheduled appointments. If a session must be missed due to illness or an emergency, we ask that students please call to cancel as far in advance as possible.

Forms

Registration and screening forms are only available at the PGCC at the time of your first appointment. We ask you arrive 15 minutes early to complete these forms. All students must complete new forms each academic year.

Students must come to the center during walk-in hours for their initial intake. If you can't attend during these hours, please call our office to schedule.
