First Generation College Students

Are you the first person in your family to attend college? Did you know over half of CSUMB students are first generation college students? As a first generation college student you may not be aware of all the services available to you on campus or you may be reluctant to ask for help. Although you are likely to have many strengths, the PGCC hopes you will familiarize yourself with our services.

A first generation college student may come to our center for a variety of reasons, including but not limited to:

• Stress and/or Worry
• Sadness
• Homesickness
• Adjusting to Change
• Cultural Concerns
• Relationship and/or Family Issues
• Academic Concerns
• Issues of Oppression or Discrimination
• Identity Concerns
• Doubt or Issues with Confidence

All services are confidential and free. Please contact our office if you are considering making an appointment or would like more information about groups and events.
