Web Consultation

The goal of a web consultation is to improve a website by making sure content is easy to find and navigate. Web consultations start off with a discovery meeting, which is where we learn about your goals, requirements, and timelines. After we have an idea of your needs we can start to discuss solutions. Most projects will involve the use of one or several UX research methods

UX Research Methods

Web Services uses the following UX research methods to help inform design decisions as well as validate assumptions.

  • Card Sorting gives us insight into what users are actually thinking. Users are asked to organize content into groups that feel logical to them. This data allows us to create or refine the information architecture of a site so that it makes the most sense to the user.
  • Tree Testing allows us to test a navigational structure to ensure content is easy for users to find.
  • User Journey Mapping ensures we've accommodated the needs of every user pathway.
  • Usability Testing helps us identify usability problems by observing a user as they attempt to perform certain tasks.
  • A/B Split Testing allows us to compare variations of the same web page to determine which will generate the best outcomes
  • Focus Groups allow us to speak to a group of 3- 6 users about their needs and thoughts on a specific service or process.
  • User Interviews allow us to speak to the user one-on-one about their needs and thoughts on a specific service or process.

Accessibility

Web content should be constructed in a way that allows any user to navigate it regardless of physical limitations. Web Services routinely scans and monitors web content for accessibility and offers training to web editors on how to make web content accessible. We also perform accessibility reviews of products and websites.

Analytics

Maintaining an effective website is a continual process. Analytic data tells us what users are doing on a site, where they're coming from, and how long they stay. Web Services utilizes Hotjar and Google Analytics to provide departments with useful information that can help develop and maintain a well-functioning and user centered website.

If you'd like Web Services to provide you with monthly site traffic summaries, a one-time custom report, training on how to access analytical data for custom reporting or heat maps showing where users are clicking on specific pages, submit a request for analytics.
