Project AMABLE is designed to meet the chronic and critical shortage of fully certified school psychologists, who are trained to work with English language learners and Migrant students. The goal of this project is to improve the quality and increase the number of school psychologists who meet state and national standards as well as meet additional competencies for working with English learners and Migrant students in the Central Coast of California. Program goals
- Development of a CTC and NASP approved School Psychology Program
- Recruit a total of 24 graduate level scholars (in 2 cohorts), including those who are bilingual and from CLD backgrounds
- Retain project students by providing faculty mentoring and financial assistance
- Provide high quality instruction in the CTC and NASP standards with additional emphasis on competencies in second language acquisition, needs of migrant students, and behavior analysis
- Implement a systematic evaluation process that provides feedback to support continuous improvement of program curricula and services
- Disseminate information about this type of unique training program.
