First Year Experience Student Leader Positions
Otter Orientation Leader
Are you interested in making an impact on new students' transition to the university? Otter Orientation Leaders work closely with groups of new students during Summer orientation sessions and Otter Days during August to help them navigate campus resources, make connections, and find a sense of belonging on campus. Please review the position information below before applying:
- Compensation: Orientation will be paid $12/hour during training and Orientation/Otter Days. Additionally, they will receive housing accommodations and meals during the dates of orientation and Otter Days before meal/housing plans are activated.
- Required Dates:
- Summer move-in date: June 9, 2019
- Orientation training: June 10-19
- Orientation dates: June 20, 21, 22 (transfer dates), 24, 25, 27, 28, 29 (freshmen dates)
- Summer orientation debrief: June 30
- Otter Days training: August 19-22, 2019
- Otter Days: August 23-September 4
- Celebration Dinner: September 6, 2019; 5pm-7pm
Den Leader
Den Leader positions are intended for returning orientation leaders. Den Leaders will have the same required training dates as above, but will have additional responsibilities helping to facilitate "Den Groups" during Orientation and Otter Days training. Returning leaders do not need to fill out both applications--just one will suffice. If you are not selected as a Den Leader, you will still be eligible to be selected as an Otter Orientation Leader.
OWOW Intern
CSUMB's Outdoor Wilderness Orientation Workshop is hiring for a new intern. This intern will serve as the point person for the 2019 OWOW trips. Dates for this position will be March 1-September 6, 2019. Summer housing will not be provided.
