A geographic information system (GIS) lets us visualize, question, analyze, and interpret data to understand relationships, patterns, and trends. It is a software which links geographic information (where things are) with descriptive information (what things are).

Administrative use of GIS is managed by the Campus Planning & Development Department which works to implement GIS technology to support the administrative functions of the University. These include the departments such as Facilities Services & Operations, Information Technology, University Police, Campus Communications and Design & Construction.
