Summer Housing
To apply for Summer Housing, fill out the application on your MyHousing Dashboard. A $100 Summer Housing Deposit, and $25 application fee must be paid before the application is complete. Applications open Wednesday, April 10, and the priority deadline is May 7.
Certain services will either have limited hours, or will not be available during summer break. This includes, but is not limited to dining services, library access, as well as a limited bus schedule. For more information on available services over summer, please see our Summer Break Resources page.

Application Deposit and Fee
A $100 Summer Housing deposit and $25 Summer Housing Application Fee must be paid before the application is complete.
Summer Session 1 - for current CSUMB students transitioning from Spring Housing, but only taking Class Session 1 courses (or working on campus during this period). These students will return to campus in August for their fall assignment. The Summer Session 1 deadline is May 17, 2019.
Summer Session 2 - for current CSUMB students leaving campus at the end of the spring, but will return for Class Session 2 courses (or working on campus during this period). They will then transition in August to their fall assignment. Note that students not living on Main Campus for the fall will be required to transition at an earlier point during the summer. The Summer Session 2 deadline is June 14, 2019.
Summer Session 1 & 2 - for current CSUMB students staying the whole summer, taking both Class Session 1 & 2 courses (or working on campus during this period). They will transition into summer housing in the May and out of summer housing into their fall assignment in August.
Class Sessions - are open to both current and visiting students who will just be staying to take classes during this session. Current students selecting a “Class Session” will be required to move off campus in between the summer and spring/fall semesters.
Assignment information
Summer housing assignments will all be located in Promontory. Assignments will be made on a first come first serve basis. Summer housing applicants may be notified of their summer assignment in late May 2019.
Students with an outstanding balance will not be allowed to move into their summer assignment until their balance is paid.
Requirements & payment due dates
Summer Session Housing will only be available to students who are enrolled in summer school sessions at CSUMB OR are working at CSUMB during the summer. Housing will only be available for the duration the student is enrolled or employed.
In order to remain in on-campus housing during the summer, the resident must
- Be enrolled in a summer school session at CSUMB OR are working at CSUMB during the summer
- Have no outstanding CSUMB account balance.
- Summer housing is limited and available on a first come first served basis. Priority will be given to students currently living on campus who have a Fall 2019 housing reservation.
- Current residents applying for any “just class” Session option or Summer Session 2 must completely move out of their Spring assignment and move back in on the Move-in date indicated for the start of the session for which they have applied.
- Current residents who graduate in May are only allowed to stay on campus if they are enrolled in a summer session or are working at CSUMB during the summer.
- For students staying over summer and working for CSUMB, you must upload a letter from your supervisor indicating the duration of your summer employment, and supervisor contact information. Accepted files are .jpg .pdf or .doc
The payment deadline for Summer Session 1 is May 17, 2019.
The payment deadline for Summer Session 2 is June 14, 2019.
If you miss the payment deadline you will incur late fees. Please refer to you Summer Housing License for late fee information.
Residents applying for Summer Session 2 will need to check out of their Spring 2019 assignment and return to campus June 28th to check into their Summer assignment.
Residents who will be living on Main Campus during the second Summer session AND transitioning into Fall Assignments must be available August 5-9 in order to complete the transition process into Fall assignments. No exceptions will be made and Summer residents need to plan ahead in order to meet transition dates. Additional charges will apply for residents who are unable to complete the transition during these times. Summer Residents who do not have a Fall assignment, and are staying for the second Summer session, will need to check out of their Summer Housing assignment no later than July 27.
No partial stay exceptions will be granted – only whole summer sessions approved. Students may be asked to submit additional proof of enrollment or employment on campus.
Students with documented and approved special needs, who require specific housing accommodations, must meet with the campus Student Disability Resource office for assistance with housing recommendations. They can be reached at (831) 582-3672.

East Campus summer housing (current residents only)

- No partial stay exceptions will be granted – only Summer session 1 or whole summer sessions will be granted.
*Note: If requesting a new space for Fall, transition into Fall assignments will happen over summer. Make sure to keep an eye out for a transition email.
Assignment information
East Campus Summer housing applicants will be placed in their Spring assignment. If a new/different space for Fall was selected, you will transition over Summer Session 2 (June 28, 2019 - August 22, 2019). New/different Assignments will depend on your Fall Reservation. Summer housing applicants may be notified of their summer assignment as early as Tuesday, May 10.
Requirements & payment due dates
Summer Session Housing will only be available to students who reserved during Reservation Days.
In order to remain in on-campus housing during the summer, the resident must:
- Participate during Reservation Days
- Be fully registered for the Fall 2019 semester at CSUMB by May 19, 2019
- Reside in East Campus housing currently
- Have no outstanding CSUMB account balance or balance with Alliance Residential Company
- Have a Fall 2019 assignment or be on a housing waitlist.
Rent for Summer Session(s) will be due on a monthly basis the 1st of the month every month, with a 10 day grace period. Please note late fees will be assessed for all fees paid after the 10th of the month.
