Multi-factor Authentication (MFA)

When you log into CSUMB you will be asked to set up a security question. You will periodically be asked to answer this question when logging into your university account.

You can also set up additional verifications such as text message codes, a voice call, or a mobile app. We recommend additional verification as a backup.

Important security measures to protect your personal information:

• Keep your computing devices patched and up to date
• Use long and strong passwords or passphrases (and don’t share them!)
• Download only from secure and trusted sites
• Don’t open email attachments from unfamiliar senders
• Don’t leave computing devices unattended and unlocked
• Don’t use public wi-fi to access any sensitive or personal data

Social engineering

This is the use of deception to manipulate people into divulging personal or account information for fraudulent purposes, so don’t share your information with unknown sources. This informative video from Google will help you avoid social engineering attacks:

Phishing

This is malicious email designed to steal your online username, password, and other personal information. If you think you have been Phished, reset your passwords immediately!
