International, exchange, and NSE student housing
The International Programs Office coordinates campus housing for all Exchange, Semester@ CSUMB, National Student Exchange (NSE), and first-time Degree-Seeking international students in coordination with the Office of Student Housing & Residential Life.
- International Exchange, Semester@ CSUMB and NSE students will work directly with the International Programs office for room assignments. *National Student Exchange students should select the International Housing Application to ensure we reserve your space.
- International Degree-Seeking students will work directly with the International Programs office for room assignments and will only begin working with the Office of Student Housing & Residential Life for room assignments after the first semester on campus.
Priority deadline
Fall 2019: April 1st, 2019
Housing assignments are completed on a first come, first served basis. Students who apply early have a greater chance to be placed according to their preferences listed on the application. You will still be able to apply after the priority deadline.
All housing assignments are made based on:
- Age requirements
- Space availability
- Application submission date (first come, first served)
Please note that your housing preference is not guaranteed.
Steps to apply
Step 1: Submit a housing application
After you have applied, you will be assigned a CSUMB username. Your CSUMB username will give you access to your csumb.edu/dashboard student account. Once logged in, click on "My Housing," which will take you to your housing dashboard.
Step 2: Pay your Reservation Deposit & $40 Application Fee
Housing cannot be assigned to any student until the application is submitted, the Reservation Days Deposit is paid, and the $40 non-refundable application fee is paid.
Note that this charge may or may not appear on your student account, but you are responsible for paying it even if it does not appear on your account. This fee will be credited towards your housing balance.
The deposit can be paid via csumb.flywire.com.
For those who apply by the deadline, housing assignments are typically communicated in early-mid August for Fall semesters, and in early-mid January for Spring semesters.
