Explanation of EAP English status

1. Standard Exceeded: Ready for English college-level coursework.
2. Standard Met: Conditionally Ready for English college-level coursework.
3. Standard Nearly Met: Not yet demonstrating readiness for English college-level coursework.
4. Standard Not Met: Not demonstrating readiness for English college-level coursework.

If your EAP English status is “Standard Met: Conditionally Ready for CSU or participating CCC college-level English courses,” you must continue your preparation in the 12th grade by taking an approved English course and earn a grade of “C” or better. If you do not meet the conditional requirement, you will be required to participate in the CSU’s Early Start Program, unless exemption was met through another pathway.

Ways to satisfy the "Conditional" status in English

• Obtain full “Ready” status by taking one of these full-year, senior year courses and pass it with a “C” or higher. Be sure to select a course taught by a certified instructor.
• Expository Reading and Writing Course (ERWC) - Adopted as a full year course in the 12th grade being taught by a certified instructor.
• International Baccalaureate (IB) English
• Advanced Placement—Language and Composition or Literature and Composition
• English course approved for extra honors weight on the University of California "a-g" Doorways course list

Explanation of EAP math status

1. Standard Exceeded: Ready for Mathematics college-level coursework.
2. Standard Met: Conditionally Ready for Mathematics college-level coursework.
3. Standard Nearly Met: Not yet demonstrating readiness for Mathematics college-level coursework.
4. Standard Not Met: Not demonstrating readiness for Mathematics college-level coursework.

If your EAP math status is “Standard Met: Conditionally Ready for CSU or participating CCC college-level math courses”, you must continue your preparation in the 12th grade by taking an approved math course and earn a grade of “C” or better. If you do not meet the conditional requirement, you will be required to participate in the CSU’s Early Start Program, unless exemption was met through another pathway.

Ways to satisfy the "conditional" status in Math

• As a conditionally ready student, you can meet the ELM Requirement by taking an approved year-long math course in your senior year and getting a grade of C or better. The following high school courses have been approved:
• Trigonometry and Math Analysis
• Pre-Calculus
• Calculus
• AP Calculus AB
• AP Calculus BC
• AP Statistics
• AP Physics
• Common Core Math: courses above the Math III will qualify
• Any other year-long high school math course with Algebra 2 as a prerequisite is approved.
