Early Alert

A Center for Student Success resource for CSUMB faculty.

Although we work with students with a variety of academic issues and struggles, our intervention works best when we hear about problems early on. Early Alert is a resource for staff and faculty who have academic concerns about individual students. If you see any of the following red flags below, please refer students to us through the Early Alert referral form.

Reasons why you might fill out an Early Alert for a student:

  • excessive absences or tardies
  • insufficient class participation
  • inadequate class participation
  • ineffective writing or math skills
  • failure to complete assignments
  • poor performance on assignments
  • poor study skills (time management, reading skills, note-taking skills, test-taking skills, etc.)
  • a sudden change in performance or behavior
