Representative Clyburn (6th District of South Carolina) is the Assistant Democratic Leader and the third-ranking Democrat in the House behind House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and Minority Whip Steny Hoyer.

Representative Clyburn is best known for his development of legislation regarding civil rights, poverty, education, historic preservation, and health care, including contributions to the Affordable Care Act.
