The exhibition uses the languages of science and art to interpret the dynamic landscapes of the Salinas Valley.
The exhibition features scientific interpretation by CSUMB students Samantha Lee, David Nava, Madalyn Price and their Geology Professor, Dr. Douglas Smith.
The featured artists who conceived the exhibition in conversation with these scientist are Paola Berthoin and Janet Whitchurch, who have created special installations for the exhibition.
Artist from the community were invited to contribute their images of the Salinas Valley and we are proud to feature 40 of their works. These artworks are executed in a variety of visual styles celebrating both the land and people of the Salinas Valley.
Experimental landscape films were created by CSUMB Cinematic Arts and Technology Students.
Our partners in creating interpretive images and hands-on experiences for this exhibition are First 5 Monterey County, Hartnell College: Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) and Big Sur Land Trust.
The exhibiton will run from May 3rd to August 2, with free events on May 3, June 7th, July 5th and August 2nd.
