Middle childhood focuses on physical, cognitive, and socio-emotional development during the school age years (ages 6-11) with an emphasis on the various contexts in which children develop, such as cultural community, family, peer groups, and school. This course offers a critical examination of developmental theories and research, and an exploration of the application of research in different social settings.
