Instructor

    Introduction to Common Western Notation and literate sonic creativity through calligraphy, composition, performance, and the descriptive and prescriptive use of fundamental pitch and rhythm elements. Problems of written and aural expression and interpretation, across a variety of historical and cultural contexts, genres, and styles. Theoretical concepts form a descriptive and analytic framework for the critique of musical works against articulated aesthetic conventions.
