Off-Campus Housing Rates
In an effort to provide more accurate off-campus housing price estimates, the CSU System has provided detailed information to assist students with finding rental rates of apartments in our area. This information will help with financial aid planning and monthly budgeting.
The average rate for a 1-bedroom apartment in the area is $1,409 per month. Download the report for more detailed information on rentals near campus.

CSUMB Class year Facebook groups
Each year a Facebook group is created for the incoming class. Often times you can find students who will also be looking for a place to live in these groups. You do not need to have a CSUMB email to join one of these groups.

Q: Can you recommend the best apartment for me to live in?
This resource is not a referral service but a resource for our students. Basic information is provided to help you make the best housing decision. It is suggested you contact and visit multiple places to find the one that best suits your needs.
Q: How was the local apartment guide created?
We reached out to apartment communities that are within a ten mile radius of campus or they contacted us, and we asked if they were willing to provide the information on the guide for students. We did not vet the properties we only asked for the information that we provided in the guide.
Q: Does the CSUMB vet the properties that are listed on this website?
No. California State University, Monterey Bay has not inspected the premises of any of the properties listed above, and has not independently confirmed the accuracy or reliability of statements made by third-party advertisers.
Q: What if I need help moving?
