I am a lecturer of US Histories, Political Histories, and Histories of Democracy in both Humanities & Communications and Social & Behavioral Sciences. My courses emphasize the enduring question of what it means to be an American and how our national collective identity has evolved. My professional research and subsequently much of my interest, revolves around the topics of nationalism, political history, and the history of social justice movements in US. For the past several years I have written on various issues, including religious nationalism, cultural assimilation, secularizing of politics, and social activism and violence. I live in Santa Cruz, love to surf and I could eat Mexican food every single day…seriously.
