Kristi DiLallo is the founding editor of The Grief Diaries, an online magazine of art and writing about loss. She has received teaching fellowships from Columbia University and Wesleyan University, and prior to joining the faculty at CSUMB, she taught first-year writing at Baruch College in New York City. She is interested in the intersection of art and activism, particularly within the prison system. As a graduate student, she taught creative writing and art workshops for teen girls and young women incarcerated at Rikers Island, and served on the Arts & Culture Committee for Columbia School of Social Work's annual Beyond the Bars Conference, where she curated an art exhibition featuring work by currently and formerly incarcerated artists. Kristi is at work on a manuscript about the stigma around children of incarcerated parents and families of murder victims. A Florida native who spent years in Manhattan, Kristi spends her free time exploring the beaches of Northern California and being completely in awe of redwood trees.
