Joy Rubey has been actively involved in nonprofit organizations for over 30 years, having served variously as a staff member, administrator, board member, volunteer and consultant. Her areas of specialization include fundraising (particularly grant proposal writing), collaborative leadership and organizational development. She has staffed organizations that serve developmentally disabled adults, women in domestically violent relationships, and people living with or at risk for HIV and AIDS, and served as a consultant to countless organizations and inter-organizational collaboratives addressing a wide variety of issues, such as health promotion, violence prevention, early childhood education, food security, shelter services, recreation, and the performing arts. Joy frequently leads workshops for the Center for Nonprofit Excellence, serves on the advisory board for the Nonprofit Leadership Education And Development (LEAD) program of the of the Community Foundation for Monterey County, and is presently a board member for Ladies First, a youth-development nonprofit based in Seaside, California.
