Dennis Kombe is an Assistant Professor of Mathematics Education in the Department of Education and Leadership. His scholarly work examines the broad range of factors and circumstances that position mathematics and science teachers to become effective, especially when working with students from historically under-resourced communities, and looks to improve the preparation of prospective teachers by bridging the gap between research and practice. Previously he was a clinical supervisor and methods instructor for secondary mathematics and science pre-service teachers at Clemson University, and taught Mathematics as an Adjunct Faculty at Trident Technical College in North Charleston, SC . Besides collegiate experience, he has diverse high school teaching experiences – having worked with students drawn from rural and urban school settings in Kenya, Botswana, and in South Carolina public schools.
