Danielle Burchett

Dr. Danielle Burchett is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychology in the Department of Psychology. She teaches PSY 300, which focuses on psychology-related career path exploration. She has also taught PSY 320, which focuses on learning about the most common mental health disorders with empathy and professionalism.

Dr. Burchett serves on the CSUMB Committee for the Protection of Human Subjects and has served on the CSUMB Assessment Committee and as CAHSS Assessment Faculty Associate. She has also served on the CAHSS Curriculum Committee.

In 2016-2018, Dr. Burchett served as Secretary of the American Psychological Association Division 12 (Society of Clinical Psychology) Section IX (Assessment Psychology). She is a workshop presenter for the Annual MMPI Workshops, where she trains mental health practitioners in the use of the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory instruments. She volunteers with the Center for Restorative Justice Works Get on the Bus Program--which helps California children visit their incarcerated parents and grandparents at no cost--as well as the Loaves & Fishes food pantry program--which prepares meals for individuals without shelter in the Monterey community.

She also leads student researchers in the Clinical and Forensic Evaluation (CAFE) Lab. Her research focuses on the validation of psychological assessment instruments, with a special focus on scales that detect invalid test responding. She is especially interested in research focused on examining the utility of validity scales in forensic settings. She serves as Consulting Editor for three journals: Psychological Assessment, ASSESSMENT, and Journal of Personality Assessment.

Dr. Burchett has also worked with the United States Air Force Psychology Research Service Analytic Group, conducting evaluations of military screening, treatment, and decompression programs and examining the utility of psychological tests used operationally in the active duty Air Force.
