An Pham's recent research has focused on the study of Buddhist television in Taiwan. His research interests include examining the processes of religiosity in Asian cultures including Vietnam, Japan, and China as they adapt modern technologies for dissemination and practice and the processes of changing ethnic and cultural identification across boundaries as these identifications are influenced by technology and modern media forms.
In the Department of World Languages and Cultures, he has taught courses on Japanese Pop Culture, the Japanese American Experience, Japanese Cinema, the Samurai Spirit, Cool Japan, Manga, Anime & Modern Japan, and supplemental Japanese language courses. He has also taught Far East Explorer in the First Year Seminar Program, which explores the impacts and influences of tourism on countries in Asia and around the world.
